The World of Ezra Jack Keats

Mr. Ezra Jack Keats is the kind of illustrator who becomes your friend on the very first page. Keats’s pictures delight the eye with mixed media creations that are deceptively simple. As a child, I was sure I could make pictures just like he did, with paint, magazine clippings, and tissue paper. Many have wanted to recreate Peter, and Willie, and Amy. Keats almost welcomes us to try it. He’s a good friend to have as a child. The Snowy Day is his most celebrated work, but look for Peter’s Chair, Whistle for Willie, and Goggles.
